The restrictions, nearly defeated in a 13-hour filibuster by Senator Wendy Davis in June, will not go into effect tomorrow. This is a final decision, not an injunction, and will head to the 5th Circuit (a federal court) to be reviewed.
What’s included in the restrictions ruled unconstitutional?
Requiring providers to obtain admitting privileges from hospitals within 30 miles of their clinic
Requiring providers to follow outdated FDA instructions for administering a medication abortion
What’s not included?
A ban on abortion at 20 weeks, with the exception of fetal and maternal indications, will still go into effect. The majority of abortions are performed before this point.
The requirement that all abortions be performed in ambulatory surgical centers, a qualification only five of 42 clinics in the state meet, will go into effect in 2014 if it is not challenged.
She responds to insults with humor. Tucker Carlson, co-host of CNN’s “Crossfire,” claimed that he would eat his “shoes [and] tie” if “Living History” sold one million copies. According to the New York Times, Clinton dropped by the “Crossfire” set with a giant brown shoe made of chocolate cake and a signed copy of her memoir for Carlson after the book sold over a million copies in its first month. Pure class.
